Weeding out old thought patterns

Episode 4 of Be Well with TL

Welcome, once again, to our podcast portal.

This episode will discuss how our thoughts constantly create our lived experience.

I will also share a few key practices that I use to help me and others create healthy and supportive thoughts. Who among us could not use some supportive thoughts right about now?

And I'll invite you into my garden as I tell the story of how I used these practices to show up in the best possible way during a painful family fracture. I am also using these practices right now to stay calm and hopeful despite the news feed.

So settle in, get comfy, grab your mug of tea, and enjoy.

Let’s stay in touch

roots, shoots, & leaves: what’s in my mug…

Well, here we are on the other side of November 5th, and our American neighbours have decided.

It is moments like these that remind me to do what I can with what I have, from where I am, to stay calm, and to live out my values in my everyday life.

I am working with a client right now to clarify their lived and aspired values. I love this work because it also demands that I get clear again. Living my values helps me remember that I have agency, power, and choice in how I respond and “be the change” I dream of seeing in the world. I want to strengthen and take action with the things I have control over. These small actions create lived-out intentions and ripple effects in the world.

Today, I include a tea that is so easy for all of us to enjoy and use as a support from our plant allies. You can find it at all the grocery stores. I hand it out while teaching at health shows because I genuinely desire calm, clarity, and connection for ALL BEINGS. What better way than to start with a mug of tea? Keep it simple, especially in challenging emotional moments.

It is made by Traditional Medicinals and is called Organic Cup of Calm. It is described as: calming and relaxing when you need it most. Our blend includes passionflower, chamomile, lavender and catnip to support the nervous system. A perfect tea for days like these.

I love this tea because it also has a little message on the string, and somehow, just like an oracle card, it always provides the perfect drop of wisdom I need for that moment. It adds another layer of calm to my daily tea rituals. It reminds me that there are things at work that support me (us) that my eye cannot see—a realm where love is the order of the day. There is guidance available and helpers and dreams of more beautiful ways of being in our complicated world. All of this from a mug of tea.

So I wish you deep, deep belly breaths, a warm mug of this tea, and a calm, dreamy break to remember all the beauty and love that is in the world… And I will go out and “plant kindness and gather love” as my tea counsels me to do… Let’s all do that, shall we?
